KARACHI – Intermittent rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls are predicted in Karachi, Hyderabad and parts of Sindh on Thursday night and Friday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a seasonal low lies over north Balochistan with its trough extending northeastwards. A westerly wave is also present over the upper parts of the country. Due to this weather system, light to moderate monsoon currents are affecting the upper parts and are likely to persist during the next 18 to 24 hours.
Under these conditions, rains and gusty winds are predicted in Umerkot, Tharparkar, Mithi, Sanghar, Ghotki, Dadu, Hyderabad and surroundings on Thursday night.
On Friday, partly cloudy weather is expected in most districts of the province. However, rains and gusty winds are predicted in Ghotki, Sukkur, Sanghar, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Badin, Sajawal, Karachi, Thatta, Mirpur Khas, Matiari, Larkana, Nowshera Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Shikarpur and Jacobabad. Isolated heavy rains are also likely during the period.
Karachi’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 33°C and 35°C on Friday and Saturday.
Hyderabad’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C on Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed in most districts of Sindh during the last 24 hours.
Dadu remained the hottest place in Sindh, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. The maximum temperature in Sukkur and Mohenjo-Daro was recorded at 41°C.
In Karachi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 56 per cent.
In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 53 per cent.
