Punjab Police’s Female Dolphin Squad is now on Faisalabad streets to combat street Crime in the region. This initiative is the latest step to advance women’s roles in policing by transitioning traditional duties from men to women officers.
In first phase, Dolphin force members will focus on patrolling areas with high female foot traffic, such as women’s universities and markets, to promote better interaction with women in these communities.
Dolphin Police Squad
Dolphin Force is an elite unit of Punjab Police launched in 2016, it was modeled after Istanbul’s Dolphin Force and aims to combat street crime.
Firs launched in Lahore, Dolphi force was expanded to six other cities. It includes 1,800 constables and various officers equipped with motorcycles, body cameras, and other technology.
Despite their role, Dolphin force has also been criticized for corruption and inefficiency, especially in densly populated areas.
