In a desperate attempt to tackle the city’s persistent smog problem, the Punjab government is contemplating the use of artificial rain. Smog has become a significant issue in Lahore, with previous measures to eradicate it proving ineffective. The proposed artificial rain technique involves spraying special chemicals on clouds, identified by the Meteorological Department, to induce rainfall. Sodium chloride, silver iodide, and other chemicals would be used for this purpose, with specialized airplanes deployed for the operation. If deemed feasible, this experiment could be conducted on November 28 or 29. The worsening smog in Lahore has resulted in a surge in respiratory illnesses among citizens. Complaints of cold, flu, fever, and throat infections have become increasingly common.
