An anti-corruption court on Wednesday granted interim bail till October 9 to co-accused Amir Ahmad Khan, former director general Lahore Development Authority, in a case of irregularities in the Lahore Master Plan. The court also sought a reply from Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab on the bail petition by the next date of hearing. Anti-Corruption Court Judge Ali Raza Awan heard the pre-arrest bail petition of co-accused Amir Ahmad Khan, who also appeared during the proceedings. The petitioners counsel had pleaded with the court to grant the benefit of bail to his client as he wanted to join the investigations to prove his innocence. The ACE Punjab had registered a case against former chief minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, his son Moonis Elahi, Amir Ahmad Khan and others over irregularities in the Lahore Master Plan. Moreover, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday dismissed post-arrest bail petitions of 11 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers and released 2 others in the Jinnah House attack case. ATC Judge Muhammad Arshad Javed announced the verdict on post-arrest bail petitions of 13 accused. Tayyaba Raja, Qasim Ali, Osama Arif, Muhammad Ishfaq, Rana Ghazanfar, Shehram Mubarak, Babar Hussain, Anjum, Qurban Ali, Muhammad Maqbool and Tariq Masih included among those whose bail petitions were rejected. The court allowed the bail petitions of the accused, Dr Sarmad and Muhammad Iqbal, and ordered their release, if not involved in other cases. Sarwar Road police had registered a case against PTI leaders and workers for attacking the Jinnah House, which also serves as the residence of Lahore’s corps commander, during the May 9 violence.
