LAHORE – Intermittent monsoon rains are likely in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Friday night and Saturday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents penetrate the southern parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave also affects the upper and central parts of the country.
Under these conditions, monsoon rains are likely in Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Layyah, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Multan, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Kot Addu, Rahim Yar Khan, Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Khushab, Sargodha, Faislabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Mandi Bahauddin, Okara, Sahiwal and Jhang on Friday night. Heavy rains are also likely at isolated places in the southern districts.
On Saturday, mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the province. However, rains are expected at isolated places in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Dera Ghazi Khan.
Heavy rains may generate flash floods in the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan. Landslides/mudslides may cause road closures in the vulnerable areas of Murree and Galiyat.
Lahore’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C on Saturday, between 35°C and 37°C on Sunday, and between 36°C and 38°C on Monday.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed in most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. However, rain occurred in isolated places.

Bahawalpur remained the hottest place in Punjab, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. The maximum temperature in Multan was recorded at 38°C.
In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 64 per cent.
