LAHORE – Rains and gusty winds are expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with occasional gaps.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly will likely approach upper parts of Pakistan on Thursday evening/night.
Under these conditions, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most districts of Punjab on Thursday night. However, windstorms and rains may occur at isolated places in Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Rawalpindi and surrounding areas.
On Friday and the next two days, intermittent rains and windstorms are expected at isolated places in Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Mianwali, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore and surroundings. Gusty/dust raising winds are also likely in southern and central districts.
Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 45°C and 47°C on Friday, between 44°C and 46°C on Saturday, and between 43°C and 45°C on Sunday.
Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in most parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours. Very hot weather prevailed in the plain areas.
Bhakkar, Bahawalnagar, Sargodha, Joharabad, Gujranwala and Hafizabad remained the hottest places in Punjab, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 48°C. The maximum temperature in Bahawalpur and Attock was recorded at 47°C.
In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 46°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 19 per cent.
