LAHORE – Intermittent monsoon rains and windstorms with isolated heavy falls are expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Sunday night, Monday and Tuesday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate Pakistan. A strong westerly wave will also enter the upper and central parts of the country.
Under these conditions, intermittent monsoon rains are expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Gazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kot Addu and Layyah on Sunday night, Monday and Tuesday.
Isolated heavy rains and windstorms are likely in northeastern Punjab, Potohar region, Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding areas. Heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi and hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan. Landslides/mudslides may cause road closures in the vulnerable hilly areas of Murree and Galyat.
Downpour may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha and Faisalabad. Windstorm may damage loose structures like electric poles, trees, vehicles and solar panels.
Lahore’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 33°C and 35°C on Monday, between 32°C and 34°C on Tuesday, and between 31°C and 33°C on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, rain-wind/thundershower occurred in parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Hot and humid weather prevailed in Lahore and elsewhere in the province.

Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Sargodha and Attock remained the hottest places in Punjab, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C.
In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 64 per cent.
