LAHORE – Lahore Development Authority’s (LDA) Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) has planned the construction of two state-of-the-art parking plazas in the close vicinity of The Mall.
It was informed at a meeting chaired by LDA Director General Tahir Iqbal at the TEPA head office on Friday. TEPA Chief Engineer Iqrar Hussain briefed the participants about the development projects aimed at easing traffic flow in Lahore.
One parking plaza will be constructed on a 16-kanal land at Nila Gumbad. This parking plaza can accommodate 474 cars and 790 motorcycles. The second parking plaza will be built on a 5.5 kanal land at Old Tollinton Market on The Mall. It will facilitate parking of 108 cars and 440 motorcycles.
Both the parking plazas will be equipped with a parking management system, CCTV cameras, a firefighting system, washrooms and other necessary facilities. “TEPA has initiated the process of constructing parking plazas”, Iqrar Hussain said.
Tahir Farooq said that parking plazas would facilitate the citizens by overcoming the shortage of parking facilities in the busy areas. Later, DG and the other officials visited different areas, including Lahore Railways Station, Badami Bagh, Misri Shah and Nasser Bagh to review the prevailing situation.
