The new grid station of Lahore General Hospital (LGH) has been functional while the project has occurred cost of Rs 11 crore by making it possible to provide uninterrupted power supply to the hospital.
Postgraduate Medical Institute & Amiruddin Medical College Principal Prof Sardar Mohammad Al-Fareed Zafar has thanked the Punjab government, especially Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid for the timely construction and completion of this new grid station.
Principal Prof Al-Fareed Zafar said that the Lahore General Hospital will now get direct electricity of 132 kv from National Grid Station in addition to being possible to get rid of breakdown and losses of valuable medical devices which will now be safe.
He said that while the generator will save budget and bills will be comparatively lesser.
He said that this money will be spent on the welfare of patients. He said that line losses and other technical issues would also be improved. Lahore General Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Mahmood Salahuddin, Director Emergency Dr Rana Mohammad Shafiq and Electrical Engineer Zafar Mukhtar were also present on the occasion.
The principal added that 4500 KV was approved for the General Hospital which was insufficient to meet the needs of the hospital’s new building, air-conditioned structure and modern medical equipment. Similarly, the required power need of 1050 KV has also now started.
He said that the new grid station was needed for the time at which the special plan of Health Department of Punjab had reached this crucial project.
He said that before the establishment of the grid station power was being provided to Lahore General Hospital from 11 KV. Which has now shifted to 132 Kv which will not break down and significantly improve the hospital’s technical affairs, he concluded.
