ABU DHABI – Hopes for resolving visa-related issues faced by Pakistani nationals in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have brightened following a high-level meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and UAE Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During his official visit to the UAE Ministry of Interior, Mohsin Naqvi was received with a guard of honour. Sheikh Saif personally welcomed the Pakistani minister and held detailed discussions on key matters of mutual concern.
The talks focused primarily on the challenges faced by Pakistanis regarding UAE visa policies. Both sides agreed on taking necessary measures to ease the visa process for Pakistani citizens, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
The two leaders also exchanged views on enhancing collaboration to prevent smuggling and illegal immigration. Regional stability, the use of advanced technology in tackling security challenges, and boosting cooperation in security and policing were also on the agenda.
Sheikh Saif assured full support to Pakistan and emphasized the UAE’s willingness to work closely on all areas, including facilitating visas for Pakistani residents and workers.
Interior Minister Naqvi highlighted the vital role played by the Pakistani community in supporting the UAE’s economy and stressed that easing visa restrictions would greatly benefit thousands of citizens.
Later, Mohsin Naqvi visited the Abu Dhabi police operations room, showing keen interest in the city’s advanced policing and monitoring systems, which he praised as a model of effective crime prevention.
