RAWALPINDI – A 16-year-old girl was allegedly shot and killed by her father in the Rawat area of Rawalpindi for refusing to delete her TikTok account, a local private TV reported on Wednesday.
Initially, the family claimed that the girl had committed suicide.
However, during the investigation, the police discovered evidence that contradicted the suicide narrative and confirmed that the girl had been murdered.
Rawat Police stated that the preliminary investigation revealed the father had demanded that his daughter delete her TikTok account from her mobile phone.
When she refused, he allegedly opened fire on her which caused her death, and then he fled the scene.
The police registered a case and collected forensic evidence from the crime scene. A search operation has been launched to apprehend the accused, who remains at large.
The incident sparked outrage on social media as the users called for justice while raising concerns over rising cases of domestic violence and honor-based crimes in Pakistan.
