Minister for Environmental Protection M Rizwan has said that it was a fact that the world’s major economies are currently suffering from corona but we cannot compromise on environmental pollution and especially the future of our children as old technology has affected our generations.
He said this during his visit to kiln on Depalpur Road in Okara District where he also met a delegation led by Kiln Association Okara General Secretary Sheikh Saqib. He inspected the brick kiln in detailed and expressed satisfaction especially over the implementation of the law regarding child labour.
Later, during a meeting with the representatives of the Kiln Association, he directed that the speed of transfer of brick kilns to Zig-Zag technology should be expedited. The minister was informed during the briefing that there were 225 kilns in Okara while 200 are operational, out of which 56 have been shifted to Zig-Zag technology but further work has been delayed due to severe damage to the economy by corona.
The minister said that it was fact that the world’s major economies are currently suffering from corona but we cannot compromise on environmental pollution and especially the future of our children as old technology has affected our generations. The provincial minister emphasized that the transfer of all kilns to Zig-Zig technology could save them from the adverse effects on human health. For this, we all have to perform our common responsibility and transfer our kilns to Zig-Zag technology as soon as possible.
