In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader, Advocate Devinder Singh Behl, has said that the RSS-backed Bharatiya Janata Party government led by Narendra Modi is using various illegal tactics to deprive the students belonging to minorities in India and Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir of their right to education.
Advocate Devinder Singh Behl in a statement issued in Jammu said, sometimes banning hijab on Muslim girls in schools and sometimes banning Sikh turbans under the guise of religion and banning education has become the norm of Modi regime. He said now the ban imposed by the Indian government on higher education in Pakistan is in fact a clear violation of international law and the right to education.
The APHC leader said education is a basic human right. He said, education can be obtained anywhere so it is unreasonable to restrict Indian and Kashmiri students from getting higher education in Pakistan. He said the move by the Indian government has created further distance between the two neighboring countries.
Advocate Behl urged the Indian government to immediately reverse the illegal move. He said that New Delhi was using such illegal tactics to divert attention of the world community from the Kashmir dispute.
The APHC leader said Kashmir is an internationally-recognized dispute, adding that Pakistan and India should come forward to resolve it through dialogue in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.
Meanwhile, APHC-AJK leader, Abdul Majeed Malik, in a statement issued in Islamabad strongly condemned the Indian order banning the Kashmiri students from pursuing higher studies in Pakistan. He termed the order as anti-Kashmir and anti-Muslim. He said that according to this order, any Kashmiri youth who obtains a higher degree from any Pakistani institution would not be eligible to get any government job in India or IIOJK.—KMS
