Consul General Republic of Korea, Kim Haksung emphasized on increasing the trade volume between Korea and Pakistan to the real potential.
“At present, trade volume is unsatisfactory, but through innovative business ideas and close interaction between the two business community this can be revitalized and boosted,” he said while speaking at a function to celebrate The National Foundation Day of Korea at a local hotel, said a news release on Friday.
Consul General said Pakistan and Korea enjoyed a very cordial relationship over decades. The relationship would reach a new turning point next year as both countries would celebrate 40th anniversary of their diplomatic bond.
That, close coordination in different fields of interest and the mutual visits of the top brass of government officials from both sides would play a vital role in further strengthening our friendly relationship, he said.
Sindh Minister for Labour and Human Resources Saeed Ghani congratulated the Korean people on National Foundation Day and expressed best wishes for strengthening the ties and long-term bond between both countries.
At present, around 10,000 Pakistanis were working in Korea, 1500 students were getting an education whereas 800 Koreans were residing in Pakistan along with 20 companies engaged in different businesses.
Mentioning the devasting flood in Pakistan, Korean Consul General envoy said initially Korean Government provided $300,000 in the shape of emergency aid while five Korean companies donated around $500,000 to help out the flood-affected people.
Commissioner Karachi Mohammed Iqbal Memon, Dr Afsha Administrator DMC (South) Karachi, diplomats from various countries including China, Japan, Qatar, UAE, Indonesia, Bangladesh, business leaders, politicians, government officials, and journalists also attended the ceremony.
