LAHORE – Security deployment remained high as thousands of police personnel are on duty for the security of Muharram processions in Lahore, and parts of Punjab.
In preparation for 9th and 10th Muharram, Lahore City Traffic Police announced comprehensive traffic advisory plan to ensure smooth traffic flow and maximum convenience for citizens during the religious processions and gatherings.
Special traffic arrangements have been finalised for July 5 and 6 (Saturday and Sunday). Over 600 Majalis (religious gatherings) and 117 processions are scheduled to take place across the city, with special security and traffic measures in place to manage the expected congestion.
CTO Wahid said that five major processions will be taken out from different parts of the city on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. The main Ashura procession will traditionally commence from Nisar Haveli and conclude at Karbala Gamay Shah, following its historic route through the Walled City.
