LAHORE – The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has reduced the processing and delivery time for the upgraded National Identity Card in normal category.
The authority has made the announcement in a social media post on Facebook as it is making efforts to encourage unregistered citizens to register with it and get their ID card.
Furthermore, NADRA has introduced additional features in non-chip identity cards without change any.
These updated cards will now include names and parentage in both Urdu and English alphabets. A QR code has also been added to enhance digital verification capabilities.
Importantly, there has been no increase in the card fee, and for individuals applying for their identity card for the first time, the card will remain free of charge.
New CNIC Processing and Delivery Time
NADRA has reduced the processing and delivery time for the card has been reduced from 30 days to 15 days.
It means people who are applying for the ID card in normal category can get it within 15 days as previously it took 30 days.
In urgent category, the new CNIC will be issued within 12 days with a fee of Rs1,150 while the executive category takes six days for the fee of Rs2,150.
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has granted legal status to the Family Registration Certificate (FRC) as it has introduced new reforms.
NADRA has major amendments to the National Identity Card (NIC) Rules, 2002 in line with the directive of Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Mohsin Naqvi.
These landmark reforms are aimed to modernizing the national identity system, eliminating fraudulent practices and enhancing its overall security.
The NIC Rules were originally formulated in 2002, following the establishment of NADRA in 2000. Acting upon the Minister’s instructions, NADRA prepared a comprehensive draft to align the rules with contemporary requirements. This framework has been approved by the Federal Cabinet and is now in effect.
