Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has directed officials to ensure that all ongoing development projects under the Energy Department are completed on schedule, with strict adherence to transparency and merit.
Chairing a high-level review meeting in Karachi on Friday, Shah said that no delay would be tolerated and that any administrative or technical hurdles must be addressed immediately to keep the pace of development uninterrupted.
The meeting brought together senior officials including Chairman of the Planning and Development Board Najam Ahmed Shah, Energy Department Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Soomro, Project Director of Sindh Solar Energy Project (SSEP) Mahfooz Qazi, CEO of Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company (STDC) Saleem Shaikh, and heads of various energy-related departments.
Detailed briefings were presented by officials on the status of all active development schemes, with particular focus on the progress made so far and the challenges ahead.
The meeting also included an in-depth discussion on proposed development projects for the upcoming fiscal year 2025–26.
Nasir Shah directed that all legal formalities and documentation for the proposed projects must be finalised without delay, especially those that are dependent on external funding.
He emphasised that development schemes supported by the World Bank must receive adequate attention to avoid disruptions and called for the preparation of budget proposals to support the timely completion of those projects.
The minister urged a coordinated approach, stressing the need for efficient inter-departmental communication and planning.
“Every step must be taken with full transparency and commitment to merit.
Delays only weaken public confidence in our institutions,” he said.
Planning & Development Chairman Najam Ahmed Shah assured full cooperation from his department and offered technical assistance to resolve any issues faced during the planning and implementation stages.
He also said the P&D Board would remain available for consultations and would provide support to ensure the successful execution of all planned energy initiatives.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to speeding up project implementation and ensuring that the Energy Department’s development agenda aligns with the broader goals of energy security, sustainability, and infrastructure improvement across Sindh.
