KARACHI – Nasrat Sehar Abbasi, a distinguished political figure known for her consecutive victories securing a dedicated seat for women in the Sindh Assembly from 2002 to 2018 on the ticket of the Muslim League Functional, has announced her departure from the active politics.
Nasrat expressed gratitude for the opportunities she had to serve in the Sindh Assembly, highlighting her three successful terms. She shared that her decision to leave the political arena is motivated by personal considerations, leading her to relocate to Canada.
She while acknowledging her role in the opposition and her active participation in addressing critical issues such as public concerns, corruption, unjust appointments, and women’s problems, stated that her first priority now is her family.
The decision comes as part of a growing trend where several women, including notable figures associated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, have recently bid farewell to politics.
Shireen Mazari, another prominent political figure from the PTI, had earlier announced her departure from politics after May 9 incidents. Shireen Mazari emphasized her consistent opposition to violence and attacks on institutions.
