KARACHI – The Excise & Taxation Department Sindh is the main revenue collecting authority which plays a significant role in resource mobilization.

Among various roles, it is also responsible for vehicle registration across the province to maintain an official record of the vehicles after due verification.

Vehicle Registration is mandatory/compulsory under the law and is essential to prove the ownership of a vehicle. It is also required during the sale of a vehicle and transfer of its ownership.

At present there are approximately 2.6 million registered vehicles in Sindh and the number is increasing day by day.

Every vehicle whether commercial or private has to registered, and issued registration number, registration book and number plate.

The official record also saves people from scam and any other illegal activity while buying a second-hand car, motorcycle or any other vehicle.

The Sindh excise department has launched an online system for verification of vehicles to help people check the details regarding ownership and others online before buying it.
