MADRID — Ambassador of Pakistan held high-level meeting with Senator José Ignacio Landaluce, President of the Senate Foreign Affairs Commission of Spain, at the Spanish Senate. The delegation included six senators from various political parties and the Senate’s Director of International Affairs.
The discussion centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation, especially within parliamentary relations, and exchanging views on key regional and international developments. The Pakistani Ambassador expressed appreciation for Spain’s balanced approach to global conflicts and reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to resolving regional issues through diplomacy and peaceful dialogue.
Ambassador condemned all forms of terrorism, noting Pakistan’s own struggles with terrorism. He also praised Spain’s principled position on human rights, development, and international cooperation, acknowledging the respect Spain enjoys in Pakistan for its fair foreign policy.
The meeting identified promising areas for collaboration, including renewable energy, agricultural technology, artificial intelligence, education, and cultural exchanges.
Senator Landaluce welcomed the Ambassador warmly and reiterated Spain’s support for peaceful conflict resolution and stronger bilateral relations. Other senators present, including Ana Beltrán (Partido Popular), Rafael Lemus (PSOE), and Luke Uribe-Etxebarria (EH Bildu), expressed their support for enhanced cooperation and emphasized the importance of dialogue and peace.
Senators Vicente Azpitarte and Antonio Gutiérrez, who had visited Pakistan in 2024, spoke highly of the hospitality they received, underscoring the warm ties between the two countries.
Ambassador extended an invitation to Senator Landaluce and the delegation to visit Pakistan, aiming to further deepen parliamentary and bilateral cooperation.
