ISLAMABAD – Intermittent rains and gusty winds with heavy and at times hefty falls are likely in Murree, Galyat and other tourist destinations in Pakistan during the ongoing week.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a well-marked low-pressure area (LPA) lies over eastern/northeastern Punjab (Pakistan). A westerly wave is also present over the upper parts of the country. Due to this weather system, strong monsoon currents are affecting most central and upper parts and are likely to persist during the next 24 to 36 hours.
Under these conditions, cloudy weather is expected in Pakistan’s most tourist destinations during the week.
Intermittent rains and gusty winds are expected in Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Murree, Galiyat, Chitral, Dir, Kalam, Malam Jabba, Naran, Kaghan, Gilgit, Hunza and Skardu from Thursday to Monday. Heavy rain is also expected in some places on Wednesday and Thursday.
Heavy to hefty rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams. Landslides/mudslides may cause road closures in the vulnerable hilly areas. Tourists should be aware of the weather forecast before and during their trip and plan their travel routines according to the weather.
Partly cloudy weather with rain is expected in Ziarat and surrounding areas on Thursday and Friday.
