PESHAWAR – More intermittent rains with isolated heavy falls are predicted in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday night and Thursday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents penetrate the upper and central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave also affects the central/upper parts of the country.
Under these conditions, more intermittent rains are predicted in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu, Kurram, Kohat, Waziristan, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan on Wednesday night and Thursday. Bursts of heavy rains are also predicted at isolated places in the upper districts.
Heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Galiyat, Manshera, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi and Mardan. Landslides/mudslides may cause road closures in the vulnerable hilly areas of the province. Heavy rains may also cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Nowshera and Peshawar.
Peshawar’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 36°C and 38°C on Thursday and between 37°C and 39°C on Friday.
Meanwhile, rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls occurred in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. The maximum temperature in Chitral and Bannu was recorded at 37°C.
In Peshawar, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 67 per cent.
