PESHAWAR – Widespread rains with isolated heavy and at times very heavy falls are expected in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday with occasional gaps.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate most parts of Pakistan which will intensify during the next 24 hours. A westerly wave also prevails over the upper parts.
Under these weather conditions, widespread rains and gusty winds are expected in Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Waziristan, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Hangu and Kurram on Wednesday night and the next two days. Isolated heavy and at times very heavy falls are likely during the period.
Heavy to very heavy rains may generate flash flood in local nullahs/streams of Galiyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera and Swabi. Downpour may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Nowshera, Charsadda and Peshawar.
Landslides may cause roads closure in the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Downpour/windstorm and lightning may damage structures like dilapidated buildings, electric poles, billboards, vehicles and solar panels.
Peshawar’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 35°C and 37°C on Thursday, between 34°C and 36°C on Friday, and between 33°C and 35°C on Saturday.
Meanwhile, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours. Hot and humid weather prevailed in plains.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 44°C. The maximum temperature in Peshawar and Bannu was recorded at 43°C.
