ISLAMABAD – With the start of year 2025, the government is set to announce new Petrol and Diesel prices for first half of January.
As the world is set to ring in new year, petroleum prices in Pakistan are slated to jump. Pakistan Observer learnt that diesel rate is expected to move up by over Rs4 per litre, while petrol price will remain same for next two weeks.
The federal government will make final decision about price adjustments after consultation and it will be announced on late Tuesday.

As of late December, petrol prices remain steady at Rs252.10 per litre, as announced by the government on December 15. The price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs3.05, bringing it to Rs255.38 per litre.
Kerosene oil now priced at Rs161.66 per litre, while light diesel oil has also dropped by Rs2.78 to Rs148.95 per litre.
The upcoming price hikes could further strain consumers already grappling with inflation, as the country continues to face economic challenges.
