KARACHI – The mysterious death of television actress Humaira Asghar has prompted a full-scale investigation, with police confirming the recovery of key evidence from her apartment in the Ittehad Commercial area of the city.
According to investigative officials, utility bills and rent receipts for the apartment were found, dated up to May 2024.
The forensic observations also suggthed that the actress had done laundry shortly before her death.
Her body was discovered in a room adjacent to the bedroom, while clothes were found in the bathtub of the attached washroom.
The investigators submitted that the balcony door of the room was open at the time of discovery.
The police stated that preliminary findings indicate Humaira Asghar passed away on October 7, 2024. However, it wasn’t until December that neighbors began noticing a foul odor emanating from the flat, raising suspicions.
The investigators further revealed that the main door of the apartment was double-locked from the inside. The exact cause of death will be determined following chemical analysis and a complete autopsy report.
The body was recovered on July 8, 2025, after the landlord approached the court over non-payment of rent.
A court-appointed bailiff accompanied by police broke into the flat when no one responded at the door, and the decomposed body of the actress was found inside.
A preliminary post-mortem report confirmed that the body was in the final stages of decomposition, suggesting that the actress had died approximately eight months earlier.
