ISLAMABAD – Top civil leadership, showbiz stars, and activists mourned the death of legendary Pakistani actor Qavi Khan who breathed his last on Sunday.
Khan passed away in Canada during his treatment for cancer at the age of 80. The Pride of Performance recipient was one of the first actors of Pakistan’s state-owned PTV and amassed a huge fan following.
Social media platforms including Twitter were all flooded with condolences and outpourings of grief as well as tributes to the legendary artist. People who grew up watching the Andhera Ujala star expressed their condolences on the sad demise.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Dr. Arif Alvi, PTI chief Imran Khan, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, and several others took to social media to mourn the death of Qavi Khan.
Expressing grief over the death of the iconic TV and film star, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif termed the demise of Qavi Khan’s death an irreparable loss to the arts. He prayed for the departed soul, saying Sitara-e-Imtiaz and the President’s award for the pride of performance are recognition of Qavi’s talent.

President Arif Alvi expressed his condolences to the family and admirers of television and film actor Qavi Khan. “A performer par excellence. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.
