LAHORE – Umar Farooq, a constable from Punjab Police, brought pride to the nation and his department by winning a silver medal at the International West Asia Baseball Cup.
The Punjab police spokesperson said that Umar Farooq, hailing from Okara district, represented Pakistan in the tournament, which featured athletes from several countries including India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Iran, Iraq and Palestine.
Farooq advanced to the final after a notable victory against an Indian player in the semi-final, ultimately securing the silver medal for his outstanding performance.
DIG Welfare and Finance Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin, who is also the patron of the Pakistan Police Baseball Team, personally met with the athlete to congratulate him on his achievement. He praised Umar Farooq for his dedication and performance on the international stage.
In recognition of his accomplishment, the DIG announced that the Inspector General of Punjab Police would award Umar Farooq with a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize.
“Umar Farooq’s success is a matter of great pride for the department. Athletes like him, who demonstrate commitment and passion, are the true ambassadors of Punjab Police,” said DIG Salahuddin.
He said that encouraging such talent not only boosts morale but also inspires others to strive for excellence.
