LAHORE – Two-time champions Lahore Qalandars will lock horns with 2019 winners Quetta Gladiators in the HBL PSL X final at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Sunday.
Monday, May 26, has been added as the reserve day for the final.
The 34-match tournament and a landmark edition of the HBL PSL will see either Qalandars becoming only the second team to win three titles or the Gladiators winning their second title after six years. The winner will be awarded USD 500,000, while the runners-up will bag USD 200,000.
The road to the final has been challenging for Qalandars as they became the fourth team to qualify for the playoffs, accumulating five wins and four losses in the league stage.
In the Eliminators, the Shaheen Shah Afridi-led outfit knocked Karachi Kings and Islamabad United to storm to their third HBL PSL final in the last four editions.
Saud Shakeel’s Quetta Gladiators, on the other hand, had a season to savour after crashing out of Eliminator 1 in 2024 and finishing bottom of the table in 2023. In 2025, they topped the points table, winning seven and losing only two games, with one being a no-result. Quetta outfoxed Islamabad United in the Qualifier by 30 runs.
In the ongoing season, Gladiators have reaped five of their wins at the Gaddafi Stadium, with one game being a no-result due to rain against Qalandars. They will look to keep their winning record intact when they take the field in the final.
For Qalandars, Fakhar Zaman (428 runs), Abdullah Shafique (349 runs), Mohammad Naeem (270 runs), Shaheen (16 wickets), Haris Rauf (15 wickets) and Rishad Hossain (12 wickets) have been potent on both ends of the wicket this season.
Gladiators have relied on Abrar Ahmed (16 wickets), Faheem Ashraf (16 wickets), Khurram Shahzad (12 wickets), Mohammad Amir (12 wickets) and Mohammad Wasim Jr (10 wickets) for bowling prowess and keeping the opposition batters in check.
With the bat, 23-year-old Hasan Nawaz and experienced Rilee Rossouw have been the destructive duo, having accumulated 323 and 250 runs at strike rates above 150.
In the two league games this season, Lahore had the upper hand against Quetta as they won the first fixture by 79 runs, and the second one was washed out after Naeem and Abdullah struck belligerent half-centuries.
Previously, the two teams have faced each other 20 times across 10 seasons, with Qalandars winning 11 and Gladiators emerging triumphant eight times.
