Meher Bano Qureshi, daughter of former foreign minister and PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, said on Wednesday she had learnt that immediately after the release of her father from the Adiala Jail today, he had been taken into custody in another case.
Talking to the media at the Judicial Complex in Islamabad with Barrister Taimoor Malik standing beside her, Meher Bano said she had no idea where the Punjab Police had taken her father to.
“We have no information whether he would be produced in the court for his physical remand or not,” she said, and added, “It is so unfortunate that the police while arresting her father did not show any regard either for his stature or age.”
Meher Bano emphasized that contesting elections was her father’s right,which should be given to him.
On the other hand, Qureshi, who had been taken into custody earlier today, was shifted to an undisclosed location.
PTI vice chairman has not been produced in the court as yet. It is worth-mentioning here that anti-terrorism courts’ (ATCs) judges too are not coming to the courts because of winter vacations.
However, it is expected that the former foreign minister would be presented in the court of duty magistrate.
