Islamabad: Elderly and ailing pensioners of Radio Pakistan protested against non-payment of their pensions for the past two months, non-payment of commutation for past three-and-a-half years and denial of medical facility/allowance here on Wednesday.
The PBC Management expressed its inability to make payments to aged pensioners on the plea that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced payment of only salary during his visit to Radio Pakistan Peshawar station, after it was vandalized and burnt by miscreants on May 10. The pensioners were bewildered because payment of monthly pension is routine matter and has nothing to do with the announcement of the Prime Minister. Pensioners of all government departments get pension without any hurdle or announcement by prime minister on monthly basis. The pensioners were of the view that payment of salaries, without ensuring payment of pension.
