ISLAMABAD/QUETTA – Following the recent hike in diesel prices, Pakistan Railways had announced an increase in passenger train fares by 2 percent.
A spokesperson of Pakistan Railways said that the revised fares have come into effect.
The decision has been taken to offset the impact of rising fuel costs.
In addition to the railway fare hike, the transporters operating within and across provinces have also raised fares.
In Quetta, rickshaw drivers have increased their rates by Rs50 to Rs100, citing the surge in fuel prices.
The problems of the citizens have increased after petrol and diesel prices went up.
The federal government recently raised petroleum product prices, increasing petrol by Rs5.36 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs11.37 per litre until July 31.
