Rain hits Karachi; waterlogging, power cuts in several areas

Moderate Rain in the provincial capital Karachi led to waterlogging in several areas as city saw cloudy sky with rain lashing continuously leading to slow traffic movement at many locations.

Details shared by Met Office said Nazimabad saw highest rainfall at 37mm while Korangi, Orangi Town, DHA, and Keamari also received showers. I. I Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Bahadurabad, Tariq Road, Sharea Faisal, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, and nearby regions also saw significant rainfall.

The downpour led to water accumulation in low-lying areas, where commuters especially those riding bikes faced trouble.

Met Office predicted that mercury in the city may rise to 38°C, with a minimum temp. of 29°C over the next two days. PMD also predicted possibility of thundercloud formation in Karachi’s outskirts, with moderate to heavy rain expected in various parts of the city later in the evening or night.
