KARACHI – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested prominent social activist Sarim Burney on allegation of human trafficking.
He runs Sarim Burney Welfare Trust International, a non-profit organisation. Burney was arrested by the FIA’s anti-human trafficking cell in an operation at the Karachi airport.
Reports said that the FIA had been monitoring his activities for some time. He was taken into custody as he landed at the Jinnah International Airport from the US.
A legal team has arrived at the FIA office to hold a meeting with the rights activist.
