LAHORE – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finalized the national T20 squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh, with a strong focus on young talent. The announcement of the squad is expected soon, pending formal approval from PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
The source said that leg-spinner Shadab Khan will not be available for the series due to a shoulder injury, which may require surgery. His absence is a major setback, as he has been a key figure in Pakistan’s white-ball setup.
The selection of the squad has been made in consultation with team captain Salman Ali Agha and head coach Mike Hesson. Youthful players have been given preference, reflecting a strategy to build depth ahead of future international competitions.
The national team’s training camp will begin in Karachi on July 7 while Mike Hesson is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on July 6 to oversee preparations.
Pakistan will depart for Dhaka on July 16.
The three-match T20 series against Bangladesh is scheduled for July 20, 22, and 24. Following the Bangladesh tour, the team will head to the United States, where three T20 matches are also scheduled.
Subsequently, Pakistan is set to play One Day Internationals (ODIs) in the West Indies.
However, the PCB has requested the West Indies Cricket Board to convert the ODIs into T20s to better align with Pakistan’s preparation for upcoming T20 events.
