Security in Diplomatic Enclave enhanced
Following the directions of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi the Islamabad Police has enhanced security of the Diplomatic Enclave to ensure protection of embassies, ambassadorial residences, the United Nations (UN) offices and important government properties located in the Diplomatic Enclave.
The extraordinary security measures were taken following the situation in the region and to pre-empt any act of sabotage, the sources in the police confirmed to Pakistan Observer.
SSP Security division Muhammad Sarfraz Virk issued instructions to police officers on duty emphasizing that the protection of all government and private offices as well as embassies located in the high-security zone is of utmost importance.
He instructed that no negligence or carelessness should be shown during duty and the registration of information for all individuals entering the high-security zone must be ensured. Thorough searches of their vehicles and motorcycles must be conducted.
All government employees should carry their departmental ID cards and cooperate with police officers during the search and registration process. Islamabad Police is utilizing all available resources to maintain law and order in the federal capital.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the under-training officers of Sindh Police from National Police Academy visited Safe City Islamabad as part of their study tour. The delegation was welcomed by Islamabad Police officers.
On the occasion, SSP Safe City Muhammad Iqbal Khan and Assistant Director Safe City Islamabad welcomed the under-training officers. They briefed the delegation about the Safe City’s round-the-clock vigilance while also highlighting the significance and functionality of the command and control centre and the operational working of the Safe City and its role in prompt action/crackdown on the violators of law and the criminals.
The under-training officers had a round of the police operations hall, visited online women police station, web TV and wireless control room.
Additionally, the delegation was given a comprehensive tour of the core systems of Safe City Islamabad, including the advanced surveillance camera system. They were also briefed on the operational procedures and effectiveness of these systems.
The delegation was informed that the Safe City Islamabad project, based on modern technology, plays a vital role in various sectors. This includes the emergency control centre, dispatch control centre, E-Challan system and the “Pucar-15” emergency helpline initiatives.
