ISLAMABAD – Somon Air, the private airline of Tajikistan, has started its flight operations in Pakistan as the inaugural flight from the capital Dushanbe landed in Islamabad.
The flight SMR-129 was welcomed at Islamabad International Airport by KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Tajikistan’s envoy to Pakistan, Yusuf Sharifzoda, who received passengers on board.
CAA and other aviation officials honored aircraft with a traditional cannon salute. The flight was managed by Shaheen Airport Services, a subsidiary of the Pakistan Air Force.

The event also saw ceremony attended by Shaheen Airport Services Executive Director and other officials who expressed satisfaction with this milestone achievement.
The second flight, SMR-130, departed from Islamabad to Dushanbe on the same day in the afternoon, carrying 52 passengers.
Somon Air’s new flight service facilitates direct travel between two sides, reducing travel time. The flight will operate weekly on Thursdays using Boeing 737 aircraft, with plans to increase the frequency in the future.
