A high-level meeting of the Content and Production Oversight Board was held on Wednesday, chaired by Sindh’s Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon. The session focused on leveraging media to promote peace, tolerance, and cultural heritage while countering extremist narratives.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including Secretary Information Nadeemur Rehman Memon, DG Information Saleem Khan, Director Films Hizbullah Memon, and Sarang Latif Chandio.
Prominent board members such as Qazi Asad Abid, Warda Saleem, Azan Sami Khan, Nimra Malik, Zhalay Sarhadi, and Hassan Asghar Naqvi also participated. During the discussion, production houses presented ideas for creating content that strengthens unity and discourages divisive elements.
The board reviewed several proposals, emphasizing the need for responsible storytelling that upholds societal values. Sharjeel Inam Memon highlighted the media industry’s influence in shaping public opinion and stressed the importance of curbing negativity through constructive narratives. “We must actively counter extremist narratives and negativity by producing impactful and responsible content,” he said.
He underlined the Sindh government’s commitment to promoting unity, patriotism, and cultural awareness through films, dramas, and digital content.
He also stressed the need to showcase Sindh’s rich cultural diversity to reinforce a positive national identity.
Memon reiterated the government’s willingness to collaborate with media houses, filmmakers, and digital platforms to promote messages that foster social cohesion. He encouraged content creators to highlight Sindh’s cultural heritage and traditions, ensuring that storytelling serves as a tool for societal progress.
The meeting concluded with a consensus on adopting a forward-thinking media strategy that aligns with the province’s vision of peace and inclusivity.
