KARACHI – K-Electric, the sole electricity provider in Karachi, has reappointed Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This announcement was made in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday.
The notice stated, “We would like to inform you that the existing Chief Executive Officer, Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi, has been reappointed as CEO of the company effective from July 30, 2025.”
Alvi has been at the helm of K-Electric since June 2018 and has led the company in making significant investments throughout the energy value chain, including the development of a 900 MW RLNG-fired power plant.
Having joined K-Electric in 2008, Alvi has previously served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer, as well as taking on roles such as Company Secretary and Head of Treasury. He has 30 years of diverse experience in finance, financial planning, and capital restructuring and is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.
Earlier this month, Alvi shared his long-term vision for K-Electric with journalists: “K-Electric should be able to transmit and distribute reliable and sustainable electricity to customers in a safe manner. We must enhance our technical capabilities to improve the system and remain updated with changes in the international market to keep our system upgraded.”
