Scattered rain with thunderstorm lashed the metropolis Sunday evening turning the weather pleasant but caused a massive power breakdown, plunging the most of the City’s areas into darkness.
It was Sunday with the mercury above 40 Celsius and the breeze though hot remained blowing since morning.
In the evening dark cloud covered the City’s sky and there was scattered rained and thunderstorm.
Apart from relief to the heat-stricken citizens, the thunderstorm caused various problems for the citizens and they had to bear the massive breakdown.
The strong winds caused more than 120 feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company to trip, leaving more than half of the City in the darkness.
However, no loss of property or life is reported from any part of the City. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, more rain is expected in the City in the next 24 hours.
Due to strong winds, electricity poles in multiple areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa collapsed.
Earlier, the Met office predicted that monsoon rains will hit the country between June 27 and June 30. Upper Punjab, Northern Balochistan, and Kashmir will receive above-normal showers.
