DUBAI – US President Donald Trump has issued warning to residents of Tehran, urging everyone to evacuate the city as Iran and Israel continue to strike each other on firth day of the conflict.
“Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social media platform.
Trump has reportedly departed from Canada, leaving the Group of Seven summit early, due to escalation in the Middle East.
Iranian media has reported explosions and heavy air defence fire in the capital city of Tehran early on Tuesday. Reports also added that air defences have been activated also in Natanz, which houses key nuclear installations.
On the other hand, air raid sirens were heard in Tel Aviv after midnight and an explosion was reported as Iranian missiles targeted Israel again.
Iran has reported 224 deaths, mostly civilians, in five days, while Israel said 24 civilians had been killed.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said nearly 3,000 Israelis had been evacuated to safe places due to damage from Iranian strikes.
Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy in Israel has urged Chinese citizens to return home or leave the country via land border crossings as soon as possible due to deteriorating security situation in the region.
“At present, the Israeli-Iranian conflict continues to escalate, with civilian facilities damaged and civilian casualties increasing, making the security situation even more severe,” the embassy warned in a notice shared on WeChat on Tuesday.
The Chinese citizens have been asked to leave via the land crossing towards Jordan.
