HAGUE – US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning that if Iran resumes its uranium enrichment program, Washington will carry out further military action.
Speaking to the media during the ongoing NATO summit in The Hague, President Trump acknowledged minor violations of the ceasefire, but stated that following his directives, the Israeli Air Force halted its operations, and the ceasefire is now being effectively enforced.
Trump claimed that several key targets in Iran had been successfully struck, including the complete destruction of the Fordow nuclear facility, which, according to him, is now reduced to mere ruins.
He emphasized that Iran would not be allowed to enrich uranium under any circumstances, as it is a critical step toward the development of nuclear weapons — something he termed “unacceptable.”
He added that, following recent actions, the prospect of Iran developing nuclear weapons is now a distant dream.
In response to a journalist’s question, President Trump asserted that the military strikes ordered by him actually helped bring an end to regional conflict but issued a firm warning that any renewed nuclear activity by Iran would trigger another American military response.
Discussing the situation in Gaza, Trump noted that positive developments are also underway there, although he refrained from sharing further details at this time.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also speaking at the summit stated that Iran’s nuclear capabilities had suffered a major blow, claiming that the US operation had pushed Tehran significantly further away from developing nuclear weapons. He added that the impact of the strikes was so severe that restoring Iran’s nuclear program would now be extremely difficult.
It may be mentioned here that during the NATO summit, the alliance’s Secretary-General confirmed that President Trump successfully persuaded member countries to increase their defense spending — a move considered a significant achievement for the alliance.
