PESHAWAR – Pakistani security forces successfully thwarted terror attack on a checkpost in the Jandola area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing 10 terrorists in the process, ISPR said Thursday.
Amid surge in terror attack, the latest assault occurred on the border of South Waziristan and Tank districts. Terrorists attempted to breach the checkpost but were met with swift and effective resistance from security forces. As the forces engaged in an intense firefight, the assailants rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the perimeter wall, but it was not enough to breach the defenses.
ISPR confirmed that all 10 terrorists, including a suicide bomber, were killed outside the checkpost’s perimeter. A sanitization operation is currently underway to ensure that no other terrorists remain in the area. The military reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country, with the ISPR stating, “Security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism.”
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for their swift and effective response to the attack. He commended them for bringing the terrorists to an “exemplary end” and expressed the nation’s pride in their professionalism. “The nation stands by the security forces in their efforts to eliminate terrorism,” Naqvi added.
Security forces continue to engage the remaining attackers inside the compound, and authorities have cordoned off the area to prevent further casualties. While the situation is still developing, several sources suggest that additional militant reinforcements may be on the way.
