KARACHI – Pakistanis are excitedly waiting to celebrate Eid Miladun Nabi on September 17, and there are reports of two holidays to mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW as Muslims celebrate this day with great fervor and enthusiasm.
The development comes as Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori formally approached the federal government to declare two public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid Miladun Nabi, the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Governor said he asked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to designate September 16 and 17 (Rabiul Awal 11 and 12) as public holidays to mark this occasion. Tessori underscored key importance of this day for Muslims worldwide, emphasising the need for full-scale observance.
People are expecting a long weekend as Rabiul Awal 11 and 12 fall on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. If federal government approved Governor’s request, there will be long weekend across the country.
As of now, PM Shehbaz or federal government have not commented on the matter.
