Two suspects in the F-9 rape case succumbed to injuries after exchange of fire with police Wednesday night at a checkpoint in Islamabad’s sector D-12, Islamabad police’s spokesperson claimed on Thursday.
The Islamabad police had earlier claimed tracing of two suspects in the February 2 incident with the help of geo-fencing and safe city cameras.
However, the police on Thursday reported the suspects when intercepted at a police checkpost Wednesday night opened fire on the policemen. However, the policemen remained safe due to ‘safety measures.’ Upon retaliation by police, they sustained injuries and were immediately shifted to the hospital where they died due to excessive bleeding.
In a series of posts on social media, the Islamabad police said the men were wanted in “serious” criminal cases, including the F-9 rape case. One of the men was an accomplice in the case of a murder during a robbery, the police said.
