RAWALPINDI – In a tragic incident, two teenage sisters committed suicide in the Girja Road area of Rawalpindi reportedly due to the poverty and household problems.
The police said that the girls, aged 17 and 18, took their own lives by ingesting poisonous pills. The preliminary investigations suggested that ongoing household tensions and personal stress might have driven them to take this drastic step.
The local police confirmed that both bodies have been shifted to a local hospital for post-mortem examinations, and further investigations are underway to ascertain the full circumstances of the incident.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, with residents expressing sorrow over the loss of the young lives. However, the police said that the investigations are underway to determine as to why the girls committed suicide.
Last year in November, a man allegedly committed suicide after poisoning his wife and three children to death in an area of Tharparkar.
Tharparkar, also known as Thar, is a district in Sindh province in Pakistan, with its headquarter city Mithi. International surveys show a significant portion of the population of the district lives below poverty line while around two-third population is facing food insecurity.
Police said five bodies of a same family were recovered from a house in Koya village of the district. The deceased include two sons, a daughter, their mother and father.
Police said that the man allegedly poisoned his family members and later ended his life.
