After making waves in Lahore, and parts of Punjab, vehicle emission testing finally comes to Islamabad as government opened new testing points across capital, giving people opportunity to get their vehicles tested for emissions amid crackdown.
The vehicle emission testing has been started in capital city in new initiative of Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) and Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), amid large-scale drive to cut city’s air pollution levels.
Transport Authority chief Irfan Memon inaugurated the testing in new beginning of what officials called as cleaner, greener journey for capital. Under the new system, vehicles are being tested using advanced diagnostic equipment to monitor carbon monoxide (CO) emissions.

Thos raising voice against pollution hailed the initiative, calling it timely and basic measure to combat urban air pollution. Islamabad also faced growing concerns over deteriorating air quality in recent years, especially during the winter months.
The campaign shows growing national focus on sustainable transport policies and environmental accountability, aligning with Pakistan’s broader commitments to tackle climate change and reduce carbon emissions.
