PDMA spokesperson stated that from May 20 to May 24, there is a risk of rising temperatures and a possible heatwave in major cities and plain areas of Punjab.
He has expressed concerns about an unusual rise in temperature in the coming days. He has anticipated that until May 24, temperatures may remain 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal.
Due to the heatwave, strong winds and dust storms are also expected in some plain areas.
PDMA Punjab, under the directives of the Chief Minister Punjab, has issued alerts to the district administrations. DG PDMA has instructed the administration to ensure the availability of clean drinking water in public places.
DG PDMA also directed that hospitals and mobile health units must be equipped to provide first aid for heat stroke.
The public must also remain cautious due to the intensity of heat and heatwave as DG PDMA advised people working during midday to take precautions against heatstroke.
