ISLAMABAD – Widespread monsoon rains with heavy to very heavy falls are expected in Pakistan from July 5 to July 10 with occasional gaps.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents are continuously penetrating the upper/central parts of Pakistan, which will intensify from July 5 evening/night. A westerly wave will also approach the upper parts on 06th July.
Under these conditions, significant monsoon rains are expected in the country till July 10 with occasional gaps.
Kashmir/Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Intermittent monsoon rains and gusty winds with scattered heavy and at times very heavy falls are expected in Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Waziristan, Orakzai, Manshera, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu and Kurram) from July 05 to July 10.
Gilgit-Baltistan: Intermittent monsoon rains and gusty winds are expected in Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar from July 6 to July 10.
Punjab/Islamabad: Intermittent monsoon rains and gusty winds with scattered heavy and at times very heavy falls are expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar and Mianwali from July 5 to July 10. Intermittent rains are also expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahimyar Khan and Layyah from July 6 to July 8.
Balochistan: Intermittent monsoon rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls are expected in Sherani, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibbi, Barkhan, Naseerabad, Kalat, Lasbella, Khuzdar, Awaran, Kalat, Jaffarabad, Dera Bugti and Kohlu from July 6 to July 8.
Impacts: Heavy to very heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galiyat, Manshera, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, northeast Punjab, Kashmir and parts of Balochistan till July 8.
Downpour may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera and Peshawar from July 6 to July 8. Landslides/mudslides may cause road closures in the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
