KARACHI – Panic and outrage gripped Karachi as the pickup truck of JDC Foundation founder Syed Zafar Abbas plowed into two teenage motorcyclists, leaving one in critical condition and sparking serious questions about power, and privilege of elite class in Sindh.
Toyota Hilus Vigo was speeding through the densely populated area Ancholi, when slammed into bike of 18-year-old Abdul Ahad and his 19-year-old cousin, Hanif both residents of Mohammadi Colony. Eyewitnesses say the vehicle didn’t stop, fleeing the scene in what many are now calling a hit-and-run.
The vehicle’s number plate was dislodged in the crash, and crucial detail that allowed bystanders to quickly trace it back to none other than the JDC chief himself.
Later, Zafar Abbas arrived at the scene with his team not to answer questions, according to locals, but allegedly to silence witnesses. Multiple bystanders claim that members of his entourage forcibly snatched mobile phones from people trying to film the aftermath, raising suspicions of a cover-up attempt.

By time Samanabad Police reached the site, SUV and its driver had conveniently disappeared. Abbas later showed up at a private hospital with the injured boys and told the media that his office staffer had been using the car to “buy ice” and blamed the motorcyclists for having no headlights.
One of the victim remains on ventilator, battling for his life. Hospital sources confirmed his condition is critical. Hanif, while more stable, also sustained significant injuries.
As public outrage intensified, Abbas reportedly helped shift the boys to a better-equipped hospital — a move some see as damage control rather than compassion.
Police have confirmed they have full details of the vehicle, its registered ownership, and the identity of the driver. But no arrests have been made so far, raising even more eyebrows.
